Syntactic Markers
The rest of the tlhIngan Hol verb suffixes have now been done. Some of the basic Type 9 syntactic markers have now been listed, along with examples in speech. This article basically collects the rest, which have not been described as yet.The syntactic markers already covered are:-
-DI' | as soon as, when; |
-pa' | before; |
-vIS | while, during; |
-wI' | person or thing which does; |
-'a' | interrogative; |
These suffixes are all that remain. They are used to construct some complex sentences, and as such their scope is too broad to be covered in this one post.
The suffixes listed below will be covered in due course, as this blog moves on to covering complex sentences. For the moment, this post will only list the suffixes and their title as given in The Klingon Dictionary.
The suffixes are:-
-bogh | which, who - a purpose-clause marker; |
-chugh | if; |
-ghach | nominaliser; |
-jaj | may (used in toasts); |
-meH | purpose clause; |
-mo' | because; |
