This article is about two verb suffixes - the Type 4 verb suffix -moH cause, and the Type 9 verb suffix -wI' thing or person which does, doer.
-moH cause
This Type 4 verb suffix - there is only one Type 4 suffix, and -moH is it - indicates that the subject is causing a change of condition or causing a new condition to come into existence. This turns it into a verb of action or activity where there is expected to be a direct object, e.g. chen take form, take shape becomes chenmoH form, shape (something) or gives form to (something).

-moHwI'
When a verb has both -moH and -wI' together, even though grammatically you could put other suffixes (of Types 5 through 8) between these Type 4 and Type 9 suffixes, in practice one never does that because, as -moHwI' turns the verb into a noun, whatever else you need to modify the word can be applied after -wI' in the form of noun suffixes.
| ghuHmoHwI' | the alarm |
| tuQHa'moHwI' | stripper, undresser |
| HabmoHwI' | smoother |
| ngaDmoHwI' | stabiliser |
| yoymoHwI' | inverter |
| tujmoHwI' | heater |
| meQmoHwI' | igniter |
| bIrmoHwI' | chiller |
| taDmoHwI' | freezer |
| taDHa'moHwI' | defroster |
| HoSmoHwI' | strengthener |
| pujmoHwI' | inhibitor |
As with other -wI' suffixes above, objects and people denoted by -moHwI' must be considered as nouns, and can take noun suffixes:-
| ghuHmoHwI'vetlh chu'ta' vay' | Someone has triggered that alarm |
| ngugh pawpu' tuQHa'moHwI'qoqpu' | And then the so-called strippers arrived |
| QapHa'lI' ngaDmoHwI'vam | This stabiliser is failing |
| yoymoHwI'mey yIchu' | Activate the inverters! |
The suffix combination -moHwI' turns out to be an extremely versatile combination, which can be used alongside the separate suffixes -moH and -wI' to describe a huge variety of tools, devices and people.
