Type 1 Noun Suffixes

The first types of the noun suffixes deal with the magnitudes of objects - either grander, bigger or more prominent versions, or smaller, more diminutive or lesser versions.

The diminutive suffix will be covered in the next post.

-'a' Augmentative

This suffix magnifies or amplifies the noun it modifies, making it a larger, more prominent or more powerful version of the noun.

-'a' can also designate a chief officer or head person or primary representative within a group of people.
