Fear to Tread: Type 2 Verb Suffix -vIp

<< First Page

This is the last of the five Type 2 verb suffixes: -vIp.

-vIp afraid

This suffix indicates reluctance, even fear, of a particular action. Note: it is culturally taboo, even though it is still grammatically correct, to use this suffix in a verb with a prefix indicating I or we as the subject (jI-, qa-, vI-, Sa-, ma-, pI-, wI-, re-, DI-).

Also, be careful if you refer to a Klingon as the subject of a sentence where the verb has this suffix.
